Rolling out of the driveway

On the road
Finally completed the construction and road testing of one of my most ambitious observatory projects, the Southern Cross Outreach Observatory Project, today on 18th June 2016. Special thanks to Asma Waseem and Patrick O'Neill for their help in final assembly of the project.
The idea is simple...why wait for sky to clear when you can just drive off to a suitable location? It is also aimed towards astronomy outreach activities in distant communities in Australia.
It is a 2.3m Skyshed POD observatory mounted on a dual axle trailer with hydraulic brakes, heavy duty stabilization jacks, cargo hold and windbreak. It is a very carefully designed project. To begin with, it will house my Celestron C11 and Skywatcher 8 inch Newtonian on an Altaz-EQ6 computerized mount.
